South Padre Island
South Padre Island is a resort island in Texas, United States. It is also a small town located on South Padre Island, a barrier island. In 2010, the population of this Island was 2,816. South Padre Island is a paradise to a lot of watersport activities, including kite boarding, personal watercraft rental and dolphin watches and many other activities. Amelia Island
Amelia Island is an island in Florida, United States. It is one of barrier islands among the southernmost Sea Islands, stretching along the east coast of America. It is 21km long and approximately 6.4 km wide. If you go to Amelia Island in May, you will be able to take part in the annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival. Besides, there are many other festivals held on the Island, including the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival and the Amelia Island Film Festival.
Hilton Head Island
Hilton Head Island, also called Hilton Head, is a resort island located in South Carolina, United States. This Island is named after Captain William Hilton in 1663. It is a popular tourist attraction, 32 km northeast of Savannah, Georgia, and 153 km southwest of Charleston. On Hilton Head, there are many great annual events, including Gullah Celebration, WineFest, HarbourFest, FoodFest, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Heritage Golf Classic, Chili Cookoff and Community Festival.
Hatteras Island
Hatteras Island, called Croatoan Island historically, is a barrier island. It is located off the North Carolina coast and is part of North Carolina’s Outer Banks, including towns of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras. Besides, this island is one of the longest in the adjacent United States. Known as “The blue marlin capital of the world”, Hatteras Island is famous for many activities, including surfing, windsurfing, sports fishing and kite boarding.
Fire Island
Fire Island is located parallel to the south shore of Long Island, New York. It is a large center island of the outer barrier islands and is part of Suffolk County. In 2012, Fire Island was divided into two islands by Hurricane Sandy. Now the two islands are about 50 km long and 160-400 m wide. It includes two villages and some hamlets. In summer, many people choose to come to Fire Island for vacation, including many famous celebrities, such as Lea Thompson, Christopher Noth, John Lennon and Henry Fonda and so on.
